Be a Snow Angel

Dear Neighbor,

The Snow Angel program is a pilot awareness campaign launched through a partnership among CONO, local schools, participating neighborhoods, City agencies, and Bike Colorado Springs to encourage residents to remove snow from sidewalks so pedestrians, especially school children, can walk safely in winter. We would love to have you join Team Snow Angel!

As a “Snow Angel” we ask you to:

  • Clear all sidewalks adjacent to your property within 24 hours —this includes sidewalks on the side of your home/business if you reside on a corner lot and, in some cases, the sidewalk behind your property if it backs up to a street.
  • Offer to clear your neighbor’s sidewalk if they are elderly, disabled, or simply unable to perform this task. Your thoughtfulness will be greatly appreciated!
  • If you are physically unable to clear your own walk or will be on vacation, ask a neighbor, family member, your neighborhood organization or someone for help. There are also snow removal services, in the yellow pages under “snow removal service”.

We understand that there may be situations where a neighbor just can't clear their sidewalks. If you are comfortable talking with them please let them know that your neighborhood organization or CONO (contact@cscono.org) will work with them to find positive solutions. If you prefer, please let your neighborhood organization or CONO know directly and they will help.

The schools (and its bordering neighborhoods) in the 2012 pilot program include:

We are working on identifying neighborhood contacts in each of these areas to serve as Captain of their neighborhood’s Team Snow Angels. The Captain will receive Team Snow Angel window clings to distribute to neighbors who are being Snow Angels and clearing their sidewalks. If you are interested in being a Team Snow Angel Captain, email contact@cscono.org. If you live in a neighborhood outside of the pilot program area, you can still participate! We would be glad to add new teams, so if you’re interested in serving as a Captain and starting a team in your area, just send us an email.

The following maps show the pilot schools and the surrounding areas we would like to clear (The "JPG" files are fast loading but not detailed. The "PDF" files are very detailed and may take a while to load):
