Our programs, services and initiatives welcome and embrace newcomers, enable kids to realize their potential, help prepare teens for college, offer ways for families to connect and spend time together, and provide a broader community for seniors to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. And that's just the beginning of how the Y strengthens community.

El Paso County

El Paso County lies in east central Colorado and encompasses more than 2,158 square miles - slightly more than twice the area of the state of Rhode Island (Excluding Narragansett Bay). While the western portion of El Paso County is extremely mountainous, the eastern part is prairie land where dairy cows and beef cattle are the main source of ranchers' income. The altitude ranges from about 5,095 feet (1569 m) on the southern border at Black Squirrel Creek to 14,110 feet (4301 m) on the summit of Pikes Peak, near the western boundary. The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department was created by an Inter-governmental agreement between the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners and the City Council of Colorado Springs in 1966. The Cities of Fountain, Manitou Springs, Green Mountain Falls, Monument and Palmer Lake later became parties to the Agreement. The main goal of the Department is to safeguard life and limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy of all buildings and structures within all zoned areas of El Paso County through the enforcement of minimum building code standards.
