Neighborhood Networks

Shaping the Future

  • The City of Colorado Springs developed the Community Area Planning Initiative, which focuses on creating and implementing neighborhood-level land use and development plans in 12 neighborhood planning districts across the city. The City Planning Department drew the boundaries of all 12 areas, which are the 6 city council districts split in half. CONO named these districts Neighborhood Networks.

The Neighborhood Network districts aim to encompass extensive geographical regions, promoting a collaborative atmosphere for joint planning and issue resolution. This approach is designed to effectively tackle the unique priorities and requirements of over 77 larger neighborhoods within the city.

  • Use our Neighborhood Map to find your Neighborhood Network district.

  • Each of the 12 Neighborhood Networks has a board.

The boards consist of residents who live or own a business within the geographic boundaries of the district and who have graduated from Neighborhood University.

Board members engage residents, business owners, and existing neighborhood associations to participate in meetings and public input sessions.

Neighborhood Network board members can also be steering committee members for the City’s Community Area Planning to provide input to City leaders on neighborhood values, priorities, and needs.

  • CONO supports the Neighborhood Network boards by providing oversight, continued education, and connection to local decision-makers.

CONO conducts outreach to build and maintain Neighborhood Network boards in each district to ensure neighborhood voices are heard.

CONO helps with the macro-level organizing of Neighborhood Networks in each district for increased coordination, unity, advocacy, and local engagement.
